The Department of Radiology at PGIMSR ESI Basaidarapur,is a state of art, fully equipped facility with dedicated staff to provide professional diagnostic and consultative services to referring physicians and patients. The advance technology & expertise of faculty helps in reaching accurate diagnosis. The patients are assured of the finest imaging services available anywhere.A full range of screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures are performed. A highly trained and professional radiology team performs and interprets these imaging tests.

The department has three wings:

  1. Emergency Wing runs round the clock to provide urgent services to patients.
  2. OPD Wing-This Wing provides services for Conventional X-Rays, Special Investigation, Mammography , Ultrasound , Colour Doppler & Guided Procedures .The department is well equipped with four high frequency X-Ray Machines .Special investigations are done in remote controlled Digital Fluoro 800 mA machine.Digital Mammography is done in state of art Full Field Digital SeleniaHologic Mammography machine with stereotactic biopsy attachment. Department is equipped with four Ultrasound machines with color Doppler facility which contribute to the high level of confidence of the Radiologist for evaluation of the lesions and serve as excellent guiding tools for the various Diagnostic and Therapeutic proceduresMajor Ultrasound work profiles include transabdominal sonogram, antenatal sonography, paediatric and neonatal sonography, neurosonography, mammosonography, musculoskeletal sonography, transvaginal/ transrectal ultrasound, Sonography of small parts and Doppler sonography. A number of invasive procedures like biopsy of liver, kidneys, mediastinal and retro-peritoneal lymphnodes, breast and muscul-oskeletal lesions are done under sonographicguidance. There are 5 portable X-Ray machines and 1 portable color Doppler machine for bedside investigation.
  3. CT & MRI Wing :Computed Tomography: Philips Brillance 64 slice scanner is installed which scan the patient in minimum time and with minimum radiation dose. System is equipped with multi-projection volume reconstruction, 3D software- surface and volumetric renderings. All types of CT investigations-Routine , Contrast studies, CT urography, Ct enterography, CT colonoscopy etc. Angiography-cerebral, thoracic & abdominal aorta, Renal, Carotid, upper and lower limb arteries etc including Coronary Angiography , CT Perfusion, Thin 0.6 mm slices for inner ear with excellent 3D reconstructions,3D of bones and joints etc,CT Guided Biopsy of lung mass, liver mass, renal mass, bone tumors and other lesions.
  4. MRI: The Department possesses a high end 1.5 Philips Achieva MRI Machine. The machine has facilities for all kinds of MRI examinations withsubmillimeter and faster imaging. All kind of coils are available including coil for MR Mammography and endo-rectal coil. In addition, facilities for anesthesia and sedation are available within the MR gantry room. Our expert team also performs Cardiac MRI and and its interpretation.

COURSES/TRAINING PROGRAMMES: 2 years Radiology technician diploma course students of National Industrial Centre(affiliated to Ministry of Labour and Delhi Govt) are trained in various techniques of Radio-diagnosis.


Department is actively involved in Interdepartmental postgraduate teaching besides intradepartmental case presentation,seminars and journal club. Department also co-presents with other departments in Clinico-pathological-radiological meets. Being a teaching institute, the department has regular teaching for radiologists and staff members from time to time. The department also has library, museum and seminar room.

FUTURE PLANS: Centrally air conditioned,state of art self contained Radiology department with Centralized Registration counter for all Radiology services.

Upgradation of Casualty wing equipped with latest state of art equipments including intervention room havening biplane DSA.

Establishment of complete filmless and darkroom less department with PACS facility.

Upgradation of Mammography machine to Tomosynthesis.Procurement of high end Ultrasound machine with 4D facility.

Upgradation of MRI machine to 3 Tesla machine and upgradation of CT machine to latestDual source, dual energy CT scanner/ 256/320 slice machine.Procurement of Robotic assistance for CT intervention and better, additional work stations.
