Profile of department of Anaesthesia & Critical care, ESI PGIMSR, Basaidarapur, New Delhi


Operation Theatres –

The operation theatre (OT) complex is distributed on three floors. There are four well equipped operation rooms (ORs) on first floor, and five state-of-art modular operation room ORs each on second and third floor. All OT floor complexes have a dedicated pre-operative patient holding area, well equipped 10 bedded Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and a Theatre Sterile Supply Unit (TSSU).

A wide variety of surgical and super-speciality surgical procedures are performed in the OTs. Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Otorhinology surgies are routinely performed on 3rd floor OT complex; and General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Urology and Gynaecology procedures are routinely performed on 2nd floor OT complex. The first floor OT complex caters to Emergency surgeries, Obstretric surgeries and Family planning procedures.

Postoperative Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Intensive Care Unit –

The department has a Six bedded multi-speciality intensive care unit . It is well equipped with multi-monitors, ventilators, equipment for non-invasive ventilation, defibrillators, patient and fluid warmers, crash cart and arterial-blood gas analysis machine. Patients from all specialies are routinely admitted here and provided critical care by dedicated team of well trained nurses, technicians and resident doctors.

Gas Manifold Room –

Liquid oxygen tank is backed up by 40 cylinder oxygen bank along with Nitrous Oxide, vacuum and compressed air.

Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) –

Caters to the sterile supply requirement of the entire hospital.


Each Operation Theatre is equipped with modern Anaesthesia work station and all necessary life saving equipment. The department has all latest anaesthesia gadgets to provide safe Anaesthesia to patients.

Each unit of PACUs is having bedside multi-monitors with central station and other lifesaving equipment.

I.C.U. is well equipped with monitors, ventilators and other life saving equipment
